Aubrie Wyn - Page 2

With a squad of clonetroopers, the team ran convoy missions to help fortify the Republic's front line positions. More than once did they run into the rebel leader, Alto Stratus, and his overwhelming forces. The pack's final task was the fortification of Cobalt Station, in which the Republic hoped to base its latest push. All the Aubrie and the Jedi needed to do was to defend the station long enough for Republic forces to arrive. But the Republic failed to hold up their end of the deal. The arrival of a Confederate armada to bolster Stratus' forces forced the Republic to cut their losses and resort to evacuation. The Padawan Pack were all that stood between Stratus' army, ten thousand strong, and the evacuation zone.

Even evacuation seemed hopeless unless the Jedi somehow slowed his advance. Although hopelessly outnumbered, the Jedi decided to make a stand at Cobalt Station to give the Republic forces the time they needed to evacuate. They had little chance of success for survival, but their survival was not the goal. They didn't need to win; all they had to do was fight. Before the battle, Anakin Skywalker had received a message from Chancellor Palpatine that he was simply too valuable to die in a lost cause. The Battle of Jabiim was too unimportant for Anakin to risk his life and he was order to retreat with the rest of the Republic forces.

Viewing the message with Anakin, Aubrie knew that Palpatine was right. His destiny should be decided on Jabiim, for he was destined for bigger things, perhaps to finally end the war. Encouraging him to leave, Aubrie asked of him a favor. She presented him her Master's holocron. He had given it to her and she had promised to return it to the Jedi Temple. Aubrie knew where her fate lay and knew the only chance of getting it back to the Temple was to give the task to Anakin. He left only moments before the final battle began.

As the battle raged, the Jedi fell one by one, sometimes together. Although she was trained as a healer, Aubrie was one of the last Jedi to remain. Taking up the lightsaber of her fallen comrade Vaabesh, she confronted Alto Stratus man-to-man. Wounded from an earlier hit, Stratus had to defend himself from a grounded position. As Aubrie moved in for the kill, Stratus hit her square in the chest with a blaster at point-blank range. As she fell forward, her lightsabers plunged into Stratus' torso, killing him as well. Aubrie had ended the Battle of Jabiim at the cost of her own life. But this sacrifice, this willingness to die so that others may live, is what allowed all of the Padawan Pack to pass into the Force as true Jedi Knights.
